I cried while working on this commission! This is the first time I have ever cried while drawing. I was listening to some tunes I used to breakdance to while drawing and all of my memories of breaking with my friends from high school till pre graduation of college came to mind. I got ultra combo-ed by nostalgia. Ive been living in Japan for 2 years, so Im quite homesick. I havent been b-boyin these days either.
Tryin to find a good pose thru the sketches was hella fun. Breakdancing is already dynamic so I wanted to go ultra. Hes doing a 90 > pose to air flare combo but I tried to capture him during the 90 > pose before the air flare. I was never able to get air flares...
Thanks again for letting me work on this awesome character!
I don't think I expressed enough how much I love this. It's seriously perfect. Thank you for what you've done with him, I couldn't have asked for a better piece!

Nice! I also used to breakdance in High school and a little bit in college. I would practice every so often and was getting better but at the same time it's like, is it really worth all the injuries and time to practice? It's not like i could get a gig breakin unless I was pro.
So I just slowly gave it up and devoted my time more to my art. Now I'm battling with those thoughts about skating after busting my chin open.
I still miss doing it cause it's really fun and challenging because it takes a lot of practice.
Incredible perspective and proportions, I love how you really try to make every one of this sketches so dynamic.
I think it says a lot about you as a person, and as an artist, that you got that carried away while drawing this. I think it's a good think you're so attached to your art.
aww homesickness sucks. heh but if you were here it'd be the other way around, I think. dude you've always been great with poses but the fact that you bust out all these crazy unique positions foe most of you commisions has been inspiring.
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
